Hey everyone!
I am dying with the flu, so this might be a shorter post today...
I wanted to give you guys some tips on setting up a new Filofax or rearranging a beloved old Filofax! So lets jump right in...
To begin I think it is always a good idea to keep a flyleaf at the front of your Filofax because it helps keep the pages from getting bent or wrinkled.
Following the flyleaf and cover page a lot of people seem to keep their personal information. I personally don't do this, because I don't feel as though that is the first thing I need to see. So, following my cover page is my registration number followed by my monthly diary section (of course there is a divider in between those!).
Next, I like to keep my weekly diary section. The reason I keep these at the very front of the planner is because I feel they are the most important pages. Those sections are the main reason I use a planner. If you keep a separate section for ToDo lists I would put that in front of the diary section (personally I keep my ToDos on my weekly pages since I don't have many appointments, I use my Filofax to plan out school work and study schedules along with recording the few appointments or meeting I may have!).
Following the diary section(s) I would keep any other planning sections, followed by any notes sections. I feel these would be better behind your diary section because you do not need to access that information as often.
Last I would keep my personal information and contact information as these are sections you probably won't use as often. Personal information is more for the benefit of having your lost planner returned to you, or to note information that you may only need once in a while, and as for contacts most people only have that section as a back up incase their phone happens to die (heaven forbid lol).
At the very back I like to keep a second flyleaf as I feel it keeps my back pages from getting so wrinkled and bent. If you haven't figured it out yet I am SUPER picky about how my planner looks!
To summarize my point. I feel that it is important to keep the sections you use most often toward the front and work your way back to the least used. I think that this makes you more focused and productive.
As for inserts such as top opening pockets and business card holders I would place them in based on what I am using them for and how often I access them. If the top opening pocket holds sticky notes and stickers I would consider putting it in the back as it is not something you need to see all the time, If you were to need a sticky note you would know where to go look for it.
Hope this was helpful and made sense. Sorry for the poor quality this week. As I mentioned I am dying with the flu, but I didn't want to miss posting this week! Thank you as always for taking the time to read this, I really appreciate it! If you enjoy my posts please follow my blog for updates!
Talk to you all later

I am a student also but I go to online college. Not that there is anything wrong with it. I just have a lot to keep track of. I am also a mother and so I have my daughter's school schedule to keep track of too. At the moment I am using a two page per day format and I would very much like to go to a week on two pages but I am not sure it's possible. Is it possible to do this? I seem to take up most of my two page per day so I do not know if it is possible to change to the smaller format of week on two pages but my planner is just way too heavy.
ReplyDeleteHello!
DeleteI am not sure if there would be enough space on the pages that I have in mine for that much information. However if you really wanted to try using a week on two pages there is one that starts on sunday and runs to saturday and they seem to have a lot more space than the ones I have. Here is the link to it on the USA website :) http://www.filofaxusa.com/store/diaryrefillsdetails.asp?productId=2376
Also I should mention if you didn't see my other post about cheap and easy DYI inserts check that out you could probably use the along with the week on two pages for more space! Good luck!
